Google Translate Using a Prompt

If you like using Google Translate you know that there is a fast way to select a word or more from a website to translate it - or even translate the whole website - but there is no way to have an input promt that let you enter some words. Today I invested some time to create a little bookmark javascript that either displays a prompt and you can enter the words you want to translate or simply translates the words that you selected on an actual running website.

The script is really simple and you can configure the script for your needs because one feature has been droped. Google Translate normaly detects the language of the words that you want to translate. At the moment I didn't found a solution for that when you use a prompt to enter some words to translate. Perhaps someone has a clue for that.
You can configure the language pair with the "lan" variable inside the script.

lan='de|en'; // translate always from german to english
lan='en|fr'; // translate always from english to french

If you like the script you can drag the following link to your browser link bar > Google Translate

Microsoft to Open Apple-Like Retail Stores?

Today MacDailyNews posts a rumor that Microsoft will perhaps open Apple like retail shops. I need to read that headline twice because this is a really great idea only Microsoft can come up with. I wonder if they have any ideas what they want to sell inside these shops? Windows Vista? XP Downgrade Pakages? How to switch from a Mac to Windows Vista Books? I am sure you can only enter this shop when you have a Microsoft Live or Hotmail Account and the light will go out from time to time when you are in the shop. At this point I repeat my question from my post one year ago: "Will Microsoft Survive the Next 10 Years"?

What's up with Seattles Time on my iPhone?

Today I checked the time in Seattle on my iPhone and what I saw is that the iPhone does not display the time correctly on the digital and clock view. It only happens to the Seattle time - all other were ok.

iPhone in your Pocket! The iPhone Nano

What's Up GMail?

Over the last few weeks I encountered different problems with GMail. Most of the time I get spam emails with the same content - even when I mark this emails as spam - I get these sort of emails over and over again. The email has a zip file attached. For me this only happens on none GMail accounts that I setup to collect other pop accounts via GMail.

Did GMail silently disable the spam filter for none GMail accounts?

Below you see another problem that I got twice within the last week. It's an email that has been marked as spam some days ago and now it comes in again. This email has an image attached and - oh wonder - it shows me the image - although Google is hidding images -normaly- from unknown email senders. You can see it in the screen shot. "Images are not displayed" - I wonder whats going on here.
