Do You Like Affiliate Programs?

I don't know how long affiliate programs are available on the internet but I am sure they are as old as the internet itself. Over the years I didn't work with this affiliate programs because I didn't like them. They also have a sense of bad taste sometimes. When you use affiliate content on your website to crab some bugs from your users with your website you and your website are often put into a box that doesnt fit what you really want to. Over the years there are more and more pro affiliate offers and new technics allow a better integration and full control over the ads you can display. Systems from Amazon even allow you to build your complete store and display Amazon content. When we first thought about our new website CasualGems.com we never thought about using an affiliate system. We wanted our own games with our own download service on CasualGems. But over the last month we saw that it isn't that easy to host all the games by ourself. Than I stumbled upon the Principal Network Partner Programm from BigFishGames. It has exactly the content that we need, it is xml driven and they have great earnings with a lifetime guarantee. What does "Lifetime" mean? Well, when you refer a new customer to BigFishGames - you get earnings from this customer "every time" the customer will buy a game - not only once. The other great service from BigFishGames is the new MyGameSpace - where you can show your favorite games to your friends and family members. It is a fully editable site where you can also write reviews about your games. The good thing, you can also earn rewards if someone from your GameSpace download or buy a game. This is bringing affiliate programms to the masses and I think it's great. Read more over here!

Users that run skype on a 64 bit version of windows are getting error messages that a file called "1.com" can not start. I am not the hacker techy - so please read the full story here on pagetable.com.

I Don't Need Outlook Anymore

Yesterday I noticed that Gmail now accept my other email pop accounts to check the inbox within Gmail. This is a really great feature because I have more than one email account and it is great to check them all together in Gmail. Techcrunch reported some weeks ago that this is possible to limited users but now it seems it is open to all - or perhaps to some more people. So check your Gmail settings tab, go to Accounts and look for a section that is called "Get mail from other accounts:". If you see this - you can setup other pop3 mail accounts that Gmail can check. If a new email arrives from your pop account, Gmail is labeling this email with your email address but you can also change the label later on. You can declare if the email will be deleted from your server or not and you can also decide if you want to send emails with this email address. Gmail lets you add up to 5 pop accounts at the moment - which is enough I think. Only problem - you can't send emails via SMTP - they are sending it on behalf of your gmail address. Which is not that good when you dont want to show your Gmail address to your recipients.

My Nokia 6280 Has A Virus! Thank You!

One of my first posts on this blog was about my lovely Nokia 6280. I love it - great display, nice keyboard for my big fingers and a slider to open and close the phone very fast. In my post about my Nokia I wrote about configuration my mail software and testing different other mail software. In this time frame I downloaded several Software to test on my Nokia. Today I know - one of these peace of software installed a virus on my Nokia 6280 by the end of november. This is no joke! Today I checked my sms numbers on my bill and saw that there is one sms going out every day at 12 o clock to a international number in denmark. The number is 0045-40920305 - and it cost me 0.20 EURO Cent per sms. Well it isn't a big amount of money but I am very frightend about the fact that my Nokia 6280 - which is not a Series60 Symbian device - is affected by a virus. I called my operator and they told me that there are some customers with the same problems - and that I should clean my phone, reset my memory card and should run fsecure anti virus on my phone. Well - Welcome to the future of viruses. At the moment I reset the phone and try to clean all data. The F-Secure Mobile Antivirus software is not avail. for my device - so it seems that my virus is either very new or nobody knows that it can affect also Series40 3rd Editon Phones - which mine is. I also found only one single guy on the net that has the same problem and his phone was affected by the end of december 2006. If anybody out there has the same problems with a Nokia Series 40 3rd Edition Phones, please drop me a line.
Take care of all your phones - tomorrow I will buy an old Ericsson T39m - what a great phone and no music stylish ringtones that you can hear when you are in the car, simply a DRIIDRIIDRIIDRII... nothing more. Did you know that's much cooler these days to use an old phone from the 90's. Ok, there is no GPRS, but the t39m from Ericsson can check pop mail accounts.

Midomi Makes Music Search Easy And Fun!

Do you know the problem when you can't remember the name of the band, the artist or the name of a song that is in your head since hours. I know that very well - because my name brain is more or less a little less on memory. This is the reason why for me it is a problem to buy CD's in a retail shop - I only see cover art but not the song that is in my head.

Now there is a new solution for that and a serice called midomi.com - where you can simply record your voice and sing the song in your mic. Midomi will than find the song in the database and you can see the name, album and cover art and of course you can hear the real song and you can buy it directly from the site.

"midomi.com makes it fun and easy to find and discover music and people. For the first time, you can use your voice to instantly connect to your favorite music, and to a community of people that share your musical interests. Listen to voices, see pictures, rate singers, send messages, buy music, and more."
But midomi.com is more. You can find other people in the network that are searching for the same songs. When you record your voice and singing the recorded track will be shown on the website as well and is available to all users. So it will be good if you do some singing practice before your jump into that.
Our mission is to build the most comprehensive database of searchable music. You can contribute to the database by singing in midomi's online recording studio in any language or genre. The next time anyone searches for that song, your performance might be the top result!
Midomi uses a Adobe Flash Player to integrate voice recording right directly on the website - which is really great - so you can record your voice with your build in mic or with your pc headset. On midomi you can also search by typing in the song name or artist name. I think the best thing is the voice recognition and that you can hear all the other users trying to sing!
